13 Mar 4 Trips of a Lifetime
The world is a big place, with more to see or do than most of us will be able to fit into a single lifetime. Therefore, those of us who want to experience as much of it as possible have to be rather selective about the trips that we take. We have compiled a list of some of the greatest locations in the world, many of which continue to be hugely unappreciated.
It’s all very well flying out to Egypt to see the pyramids and the Sphynx, or jetting off to New York to experience the joys of Central Park, but there are innumerable other exciting and beautiful locations to be seen throughout the world.
Cinque Terre, Italy
This national park is a protected UNESCO heritage site, a sure sign of an area of outstanding natural beauty. The steep slopes of the terrain around Cinque Terre have provided fertile grounds for the cultivation of grapes to make wine. Ancient stone walls guide visitors through a winding network of paths, from which there are stunning views of the Mediterranean on display. A hike along the cliffside trails will take you through the coastal villages dotted throughout the landscape.
Four Seasons Tented Camp, Thailand
The Golden Triangle is a beautiful geographical area, as it is where Thailand, Laos, and Myanmar (Burma) all meet. The area was once infamous as the center of global heroin production, however, now that the illicit narcotics trade has largely relocated to Afghanistan and Mexico, the Golden Triangle has once again become a top tourist hot spot. The Four Seasons Tented Camp is an opportunity for visitors to experience the spectacular views of the Laotian mountains, the lush jungle landscapes, and the Rock River. Visitors can stay in one of the fifteen or so elevated, freestanding accommodations on offer.
Vieques Island, Puerto Rico
Vieques Island is the perfect spot for travelers who are looking for a subdued and quiet getaway, free from crowds, tall buildings and the usual crass commercialization which has overtaken so many seafront areas. Here, pristine beaches are bordered by lush, green flora, while crystal clear ocean waters lap at the shoreline. Located just six miles from San Juan, Vieques Island is perfectly situated to provide the ideal balance between escaping from population centers and maintaining access to local amenities.
As a holiday destination, Tanzania has it all, a vast expanse of beautiful landscapes, unmatched by almost anywhere else in the world, an enthralling local culture which has to be experienced first-hand to be appreciated, and the opportunity to embark on a once-in-a-lifetime safari experience. The country has become a hotspot for ecotourism. In fact, the entirety of Chumbe Island, located just off the coast of Zanzibar, has been given over to a private, non-profit ecotourism project. Part of the experience for many visitors involves taking a safari in Tanzania, these trips offer visitors the chance to get up close with the unique local wildlife.
This is just a small selection of the world’s most beautiful destinations. Start planning your adventure today!
