Christmas in the Philippines: Operation Save Santa Arrives with the Goods

H0-Ho-Ho Christmas is finally here and  almost complete. Yesterday Santa rode into town on his motorcycle with Executive Elf Lieutenant (me) and his Red Cross elf army in tow.  We delivered gifts to some 600 Filipino kids in need in three communities thus far.  And as you can probably guess, the kids were more than a little bit excited. santa on a motorcycle filipino santa santa in the philippines sandals hopeful mother in philippines happy kids in philippines happy kid filipino happy filipino kid happy baby2 happy filipino kid at christmas happy baby in the philippines turner barr Philippines Philippines Christmas Filipino Christmas Story ************************************************ While Christmas has just arrived, there is still time to help some more kids. PS: Visit Cebu – it´s magic – especially the whale-sharks (although of course priority is helping out there) PPS: I sent some cash to the help-organisations in the Philies.

[…] Luckily, the good citizens of the Internet rallied once more, and despite Facebook being a Grinch and constant power outages, we raised about $5,000 , #savesanta, and got some kids in need gifts this holiday season. […]

That’s wonderful what you did giving back to those beautiful little children on Christmas. Keep sharing your stories and telling us about organizations with which we can work with around the world!

Turner, it’s so exciting and refreshing to see the kind of work you’re doing to help others. It’s great to know travel doesn’t have to be all about fun OR all about volunteering – you’ve found a great balance of helping those in need and having a great time while doing it. Kudos!
